 TEACHER SPOTLIGHT

  MS LEXI

Alexandra (Lexi) Bormeth is a ballet and contemporary movement choreographic artist, originally based from Sonoma County, California. Receiving her Bachelors in Fine Arts, Dance Choreography, at the University of California, Irvine, Bormeth has studied ballet techniques under the tutelage of Tong Wang and Dianne Diefenderfer, as well modern techniques by Charlotte Griffin, Kate Skarpetowska, and many more. Rooted in classical Russian Vaganova ballet technique during her childhood, she has later been redefined by progressive modern and contemporary movement approaches, and now understands a unique dichotomy of knowledge in

both technique styles to effectively teach students. Further in her experience, she has performed

Lar Lubovitch’s acclaimed ‘Marimba’ repertoire, along with ‘Pointe Blank’, an original work by Chad M. Hall, at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Traveling to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv for a month, she has been immersed into the artistically rich culture and contemporary dance culture of Israel.

In the center of Jerusalem, studying the release techniques of the Vertigo Dance Company dancers and founder, Noa Wertheim, she learned repertoire such as ‘Vertigo 20’, and was featured in original work ‘Fomo’ choreographed by Nitzan Lederman; additionally in Tel Aviv, she learned Ohad Naharin’s Gaga technique and original repertoire such as ‘Echad Mi Yodea’ from the Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv, at the Suzanne Dellal Center for the Arts. As a professional choreographic artist, her projects today maintain a grassroots foundation, with a purpose to provide the community with a stronger connection to the arts, and an outlet to grow together with. Being grateful for so many impactful opportunities in her own youth, which have helped to now have established her repertoire of choreographic works over the last ten years,Bormeth is eager to contribute an excitingly creative and imaginative guidance for young dance

artists to grow.
